The Archos 7 Internet Media Tablet, which is an upgraded version of Archos 5 with a bigger screen, has a 7 inches screen with a resolution of 800×480.

The device is built with shiny gunmetal casing, weight around 640g and is the size of a paperback book. This device is superb for movie watching. The image is bright and it handles movements and colour without any problem.

The Archos 7 uses 600MHz ARM Cortex processor and 128MB of SDRAM so there is no problem with playing videos provided that they must be properly encoded.

Together with a good set of headphones, you would be enjoying quality movies on the move without any set backs. Archos has a 10 hours battery life, making it a reliable movie-watching device.

For audio, the HDD-based player uses uncompressed FLAC file. The disk space of 160GB make this possible and you could enjoy good quality music without compromising the files’ formats. The universal OGG Vorbis support is also available.

Few down sides of this product include the need to pay for the plug-in if you would want to play HD H.264, WMV files or MPEG-4 files.

Well, you can save that by using some video format conversion program but it will be more time consuming.  Other than that, several upgrades had been done on the firmware to make it more stable.

Users can even browse the internet using Opera browser. It is also flash compliant and the large screen make this device ideal for surfing as well.

Email support is available as well as the photo viewer.  However, users had been criticizing the quality of games provided by Archos. The present add-on modules of Archos are pretty exciting.

One of the most desirable add-on is the DVR station which you could connect Archos 7 with another device for video recording or to a TV for output.
