Are You Sick of Browser Security, Filters, and Restrictions at Office? Here are Some Solutions
If you are also sick and tired of all this browser security stuff, and browsing restrictions at the work place then here’s some good news for you… In fact not “SOME”, but rather ‘PLENTY’ of good news for you
Internet censoring is now prevalent almost everywhere and even in my office sites like Orkut are blocked.
Some Countries routinely block many websites and interestingly entire blogger.com, orkut and other similar sites are usually banned in office throughout the world. No wonder many of us are looking for ways of accessing blocked websites.
A free web proxy is basically something to get around school/work filters to sites like Myspace and Bebo. Web proxies are also used to stay safe and hide your identity on the net.
Using an Anonymizer you can access a third party site, which in turn routes your request to the required server. Some services provide URL encryption also.
The problem is that most of these servers are no longer free. Doing a Google search for the latest list is always a good idea, as this is a very dynamic area. Following are some services that come in handy, and help the cause.
Anonymous – It works well, but URL is still visible and hence may be blocked by the filtering software. It is an anonymous website un-blocker & online privacy tool.
Using this site you can access all the websites your network admin and/or country don’t want you to be looking at.
As a matter of fact many folks don’t know that Web sites often track, log, and analyze your IP address, geographical information, web browser, and other personal information!
It makes your browsing experience totally anonymous by hiding such information from the sites you visit. The best part is that the website is completely free!!
You can also browse the internet securely using many other such websites and proxy links.
What’s more you can unblock popular social networking sites such as MySpace, Bebo, Facebook, YouTube, Orkut, Friendster, Plenty of Fish, PerfSpot and many other sites.
These websites basically provide proxy settings and do certain variations, which are helpful in hiding your IP address from others and because it hides your IP, it can be used to bypass internet filters at school or work or anywhere else.
As your IP is hidden, you can open any websites you like and all you gotta’ do is to enter the address of the site you wish to visit in the box above, and hit ‘Surf’!
By using a proxy, you not only protect your personal information from the site you are visiting, but you also reduce your risk of identity theft.
Sites created for the purpose of phishing identities loom on the web, and every time you accidentally stumble upon a site you leave a footprint of your location.
These thieves use all the information they can to eventually steal your credit information for their own profit. However, if you are safe and use a proxy such as this one, the risk for identity theft is greatly reduced.
When everything fails, you can use alternate service providers. For example if Gmail is blocked at your place, you can take another obscure mail address and enable email forward at Gmail.
Before you try out any of the methods listed here, it is suggested that you install Firefox browser. For faster and smoother internet access, Firefox is the best browser available out there and moreover due to many other reasons, whenever you are accessing proxy sites or similar sites ensure that you use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer!
You may subscribe to such free websites, which facilitate proxy access to blocked sites. Moreover, doing a small Google search and collecting more info is always a great option
Though a word of caution, which is very important and must be noted! You must be extremely careful whenever you are using public proxy servers because it is possible for the guy who is hosting the service to snoop on the data that is passing through.
So I wouldn’t recommend putting any important information such as credit card details etc when you are using public proxy server method.
So have fun and enjoy browsing any site at office that you always wanted to…
