There are many different types of computer software and they all serve a different, specific function to assist in a particular task.
Basically, they help make things easier! Whether you are organizing your emails, writing a letter, putting songs on your iPod, surfing the internet, or calculating complex physics problems in order to program a space shuttle…computer software is a major part of getting the job done quickly and more accurately.
If everything was still done on pen and paper, we would be years and years behind where we are today, there is no doubt about it.
One type of computer software, is the regular, everyday, mainstream software applications such as Outlook Express, iTunes, AOL, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Paint, MSN, etc.
These software applications were programmed in a specific computer language, by people who specialize in programming that language.
Hardware is the actual computer itself and the microchips themselves, whereas software is the magical, sleek looking programs that you use on your computer everyday.
Another very important type of computer software is inventory and business software. When you go out to eat at a restaurant, most of the time nowadays your server will punch your custom order into the computer and it sends the chefs a detailed description of what to cook as well as calculates the price of the meal and keeps an accurate record of all the restaurants sales for the day.
Can you imagine all the hard work that would be needed if there weren’t different types of computer software for daily applications.
Basically, one type of computer software is good for entertainment purposes, convenience, simplicity, fun, etc.
While the other type of computer software is for more practical, boring, business type use that may be boring on the surface, but without this type of computer software…life would be a LOT more boring.
