The Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router makes setting up a home or office network much easier.

It comes together with the documents needed in order to install it well. However, some users complained that the web interface is difficult to navigate, instructions are hard to understand and the security setup should be explained better for novices.

Drop link has also been observed. Some offshore users also complained about the lack of offshore services.

The Fast Start guide will try its best to illustrate the setup process. Judging by the comments of several users, it is better to have basic networking knowledge in order to use this router.

The Linksys WRT54GS has a web-based configuration tool that gives you the access to other networking settings like the DHCP server and client settings.

There are 2 types of firewalls that come with the router, one of them being the Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and the other one is the NAT firewall that hides computers behind the router.

In fact, some of the users think that the ability to choose specific applications thru the firewall is one of the pros.

Most of the users think that the wireless security of the Linksys is good as you can configure the router to use the WEP or WPA settings. Both of these systems help to stop the access point of unwanted guests.

The Linksys WRT54GS router comes with removable antennas but do not have mounting bracket. It has a technology which can increase wireless network performance but some users think that routers by D-Link and Netgear offers better enhanced speeds.

When using the Linksys router, the enhancements kick in when all the computers on the network has the same proprietary rules.

Otherwise, the device’s standard speed is 802.11g. In Cnet testing, the Linksys range stretches as far as 200 feet.
