What is it that really takes entertainment technology forward – VCRs, DVDs, cable, 3D, Internet – what is the kind of consumer demand that really fuels the need for change and leaps forward in technological innovation?
No, it isn’t the soaring human spirit that does it. It’s porn, pure and simple. If it weren’t for powerful demand for accessible porn, none of these entertainment media devices would ever have made it to the mainstream, media experts claim.
As wonderful as all of that might be for spinoff benefits, as a parent, you certainly do experience a degree of anxiety over keeping your child away from porn.
It happens to be more difficult today than ever before now that it’s accessible on Internet connected gaming consoles and any smartphone.
You’ve learned how to block websites like that with child monitoring software on the computer. What do you do with all these new devices that allow access? How to block websites on those? Read the rest of this entry →

Our access to information has never been as convenient. In ancient times, only young men were allowed to go to school and learn about philosophers and literature.
When the ultra-conservative Middle Ages came along, knowledge was left in the hands of the religious, and wouldn’t see a renewal until the Renaissance.
As the centuries passed, people were granted greater access to information, until our modern day scholars decided to make things easier for everyone.
From libraries stocking books in order, we moved to databases that stored information in a way that it could be stored, searched through, and retrieved. Read the rest of this entry →

When you think trash, you surely don’t think about your old, trusty personal computer. But that’s exactly what will become of it when you make the inevitable move toward your next laptop or desktop.
And, yes, buying a new computer is inevitable, considering the pace at which computer technology zips along. Just think—about a handful of years ago, a fast microprocessor for a laptop was at 233 MHz. Now you’re looking at about at least 2 GHz! That’s Giga, with a G.
So eventually, you will want a computer that can handle the latest software, the latest games, and the latest interactive Web sites, and then you’ll have to throw away your old computer, right? Wrong.
Try selling your used computer instead. Throwing out your computer is one of the worst things you can do. For one, your computer may be useful for someone out there, even if just for scraps. Read the rest of this entry →

If you are looking for a camera that is powerful, but compact, you should take a look at the Canon Powershot SD 11001S. This is a casual camera (not designed for professional photographers), but it is still very powerful.
It takes photos at 8 Mega Pixels, which is the current “big” for your average camera. 10 megapixel cameras are also cropping up, but of course are going to cost more. It is small and compact, and very easy to use.
Having only a small experience using digital cameras (you understand how to turn one on and how to take a picture), you should be able to use the Canon Powershot SD 11001S. Read the rest of this entry →
