How the Internet is Changing Society
When the internet was first invented its users were few and far between. Worse-it was only the very technically minded who were able to use the internet, and so it remained a tool for a small number of people who were a part of the same circle.
Fast forward forty years and the vast majority of homes have internet access, or else people have access through universities or through their local library.
Others still have internet access thanks to their cell phone, allowing the use of email, social networks and letting them browse the web in order to find the information that they require. This is leading to a number of changes within our society-some of which are beneficial and others that are not.
It is easier than ever to keep in touch with friends and family around the world. Social networking sites allow people to find long lost friends. The net is incredibly cheap compared to overseas mail and phone calls. Read the rest of this entry →
