BIOS stands for Basic Input Output System, and is the small program that begins your computer’s boot process. It provides an interface between the hardware and the operating system, and has been the starting block for the loading of all personal computers since the early 1970s. However, it’s time as one of the most important parts of your computer’s code may now be limited.
BIOS was designed more than forty years ago. It was designed to identify the basic hardware parts that make up your computer, and tell the operating system that would run on it, how to address them. It is the most basic program that runs on your system and without it your computer would not be able to address it’s most important parts, such as the graphics card, memory, hard discs and keyboard.
The problem is that BIOS is outdated. In the almost forty years since its creation, computing technology has moved forward a great deal.
