A lot of people have seen the resale potential in their used and unwanted computer equipment. But in selling them on without taking certain precautions, you may be exposing yourself to the dangers of privacy invasion.

Buying a computer is an expensive game. More importantly, because of the rate at which technology continues to progress, they age incredibly quickly.

This can mean that the computer you bought just a year ago is outdated and behind the times when it comes to its specifications.

For some people this may not matter. But for people who have cause to use the latest software, or who are working in a high technology industry it can be very important.

Gamers for instance are often forced to upgrade their computer because the latest games released are designed and aimed at the latest and best technology available, meaning that they cannot play the game they want to own on their current rig.

To save money when upgrading, many people choose to sell their old equipment. What many may not realize is that these steps should also be taken before throwing your old computer away too. It may not be any good to you any more but it is possible that another person may still be able to steal your information from it.

Protecting yourself is easy to do, and yet most people don’t do it. Many wrongly assume that all that they need to do is to send all of their information to the recycle bin, or to just delete it.
