If you have dial up Internet service in your home, you either want to have money or you do not have any other options.

Thankfully, options for faster and more reliable Internet are going into areas where many feared they would be stuck with dial up service for life.

If you want faster Internet at home, there are many options, and also some adjustments you can make in your own home.

Your family activity online can make a huge difference, so make some adjustments for the fast speed that you need if you use your connection for work or play.

Faster Internet can simply mean upgrading what you have. This is a tough decision for some families that are struggling with expenses right now.

Some people are getting rid of things like Internet and cable because they are having trouble paying for rent or mortgage. Think about your needs before you decide if you want faster Internet or if you need to let it go.

If you have children that use it for study, or if you do any part of your work from home, you need to keep your connection.

Remember that you can find many television shows online now, so you can cut your cable to pay for your Internet if you really need to keep it and want to upgrade.

Some of your options for faster Internet are cable and then there is DSL. These are great options that do not tie up your phone line and are must faster and tons more reliable than dial up Internet service.

DSL is not as fast as cable Internet, but for some homes this is all that they need. If you have more than one person in your home using your connection through a router, you may find that DSL does not have enough power.

This is when cable is going to be your best bet. Cable is faster and has more oomph, but is not always the best choice for smaller families that may not get online a lot.

If you already have cable and you still need faster Internet at home, there are a few things going on. Once is that your computer processor simply cannot keep up with what you are trying to do online.

If you play a lot of games, work with high resolution images, or if you watch television, movies, or videos quite often, you may have to upgrade your computer or you can at the very least see about getting a faster processor put in so that your machine can then keep up with your activities.

You can also stagger when various members of your family are on the Internet. This can slow things down tremendously.

If you have more than one computer as well as wireless devices that are hooked up to your single connection, getting faster Internet may be as simple as making sure everyone is not trying to be on the Internet at the same time.

Games take up a lot of bandwidth, so only allow so much time each person a day to do it, and stagger when they play. That should help with faster Internet for you when you need the speed the most.

Laptop computers have changed the way that people look at computing as a whole. They have developed the methods that have allowed people to work and play wherever they happen to be at the time.

This is all thanks to the combination of the laptop with the wireless internet that is making so many people happy.

However, if you are in the market for a laptop then you need to be sure that you are choosing the right one. There are many to choose from with a lot of different options.

Laptops are common among the young and the old. But choosing one is not an age specific thing. It is more about getting what you need and at the price that you want.

Below are a few tips that will help you get to the best possible place when buying a laptop for your home or office.

Price
The amount of money that you are willing to spend is one of the biggest things that you must decide on. Laptops range in price from three hundred to ten thousand dollars and each one has a unique set of skills.

You should make a decision on price based on how much you will use the laptop and what you are going to be using it for.

OS
The operating system that you will use is something that is a personal choice. Whether you are going to use a Mac or a Windows system depends on what you are used too.

Many people like the Mac based systems but Windows is still one of the most popular of all the products on the market. You should be certain of what you want with this part of the decision.

Usage
What you are going to use the laptop for is also very important. This will help you decide on what features and so on that you will need to get.

For instance, if you are planning on using the laptop primarily for editing and sharing pictures then you will want to get a media center laptop. If you are wanting to do nothing more than game on it then you will want a gaming laptop.

Brand
You will want to make a decision on the brand that you are going to use as well. This is something that will coincide with the price of the unit.

Each brand has a different price range and some have a higher quality rating than others. You need to be sure that you are doing your research in this area. If you are going with a brand that is lower on the price spectrum then you may get a laptop that is not the best in quality.

Connection
Finally you will want to make sure of the connection type. Most of the laptops on the market now feature internal wireless internet connections.

This is something that is positive for those that wish to travel with their laptops. You will also want to have a standard connection port in case there is no wireless.

For many years people have enjoyed the convenience of being able to print documents at home, instead of having to go to a library or their work place.

But now the convenience of at home printing is set to take a step into the bizarre-as you will soon be able to print furniture and clothes, and other physical objects at home.

3D printing has been a reality for a while, but the massive costs involved previously made the technology unreachable.

For thirty years there have been printers that could make 3D objects instead of flat print, objects that are known as prototypes. Making prototypes, or early versions of a design object was their primary function.

Now a newer 3D printer, called the RepRap is changing things. At just a few hundred dollars, it is cheap, thanks in part to the fact that it’s design is open source, and hence is distributed for free.

The parts can be self made by a skilled person, though there are some electrical parts, such as the circuit boards that may have to be purchased. The RepRap is available in complete self assembly kits, and there are other kits that provide only the harder to make electronic parts.

Once you have built your printer, using the free design and documentation, you can then use it to make a second printer-making this a self replicating system.

Even better you can print and install upgrades when they are released, helping to keep this system up to date and as functional as possible.

Plans for future models of the 3D printers can also be downloaded. For the RepRap they are free, but other models may not be. Some may not have printable upgrades at all. This means that you may end up with line of printers, each one produced by the one that came before it.

The various models of 3D printer use different materials. There are printers that work with glass, laying down a powder on top of a support material, before it is fired to set it.

Some work with plastic, putting down layer upon layer of plastic to build up the finished product. Some may use two or more materials, combining them during the printing process.

Previously these printers have only been used in design and engineering settings, such as universities, but with costs falling the possibilities are growing.

There are possibilities for home use, such as the building of home furniture items, or even clothing as the technology progresses.

Some see this as a way to deliver online shopping items straight to your home, for instant delivery instead of needing to wait for a long time in order to have them delivered.

The possibilities in the third world are far greater. For areas with little or no access to essential items, these printers could provide essential items of equipment-almost instantly-and for very little cost.

There are a variety of makes and models of 3D printers, most of which are too expensive for home use. But with cheaper models available, and the ability to design the print outs at home, the possibilities are endless.

You will have to shell out BIG BUCKS or even probably need to sell your house/car/body for it! But all in all, it’s all worth it!

For home users and students:

The latest Dell Vostro A860 laptop is an affordable 15.6-inch laptop equipped for handling everyday tasks, and is designed for the home users and students, who are looking for a cost effective option to do all the common computing operations.

DVD burner

Bluetooth

WiFi

Choice of operating system.

Why should you select this?

It offers the same practical technology for mobile business computing, but for small business customers and mainly the students and home-users, who value mobility and compact size at an affordable price offering!

Obviously Dell has its monopoly as far as the brand is concerned, but this machine is superior to the rest in its segment on account of its low-cost, without sacrificing functionality and performance!

You recommend something better?

If you have recommendations of other laptops that can top segments, let us know. We will carry out tests and let you know what we feel about them.

This is the question that majority of the home computer users have not yet asked themselves. How to backup my PC & what kinds of data do I want to backup?

In business environment, there are unlimited options, which the Computer professionals have the access to backup up commercial data.

The home users should not have the same options, as they are totally unnecessary because of the quantity of data that the home users can back up.

While you backup the computer there are lots of different ways to perform it and lots of files & folders can be backed up.

We are going to focus on data files that are formats word, excel, jpegs, mp3’s, and nothing else, like applications folder, program files folder and so on.

For home user you don’t have to backup the whole thing on your hard drive. That will take too much of your time and will get very expensive. I recommend saving all the data files to the 1 spot, if you are Microsoft Windows user; most of the software packages will have the default data to My Documents folder. If you are Mac user then where it will default no one knows! It generally defaults to desktop.

Make the folder and name it meaningful. Name something that you will keep in mind, like the “Computer Backup” or else “My Backup Files”! After that make sure that you save all your significant files to that particular folder. You can default all your files saved in that file so you don’t require worrying regarding clicking and dragging to your folder.

One more computer backup suggestion would be to buy external hard drive i.e. firewire or the USB cable and then plug in your computer. You have to treat external hard drive like an USB Key solution.

Only difference is that there will be more space available on its external hard drive than USB Key. You can as well purchase internal hard drive and install it or if you are purchasing new computer, then you can put one for little amount of money.

This needs to be treated like the original hard drive, and it will have some letter allotted to it (i.e. C, D) or it will get mounted to the desktop.
