These days, a new laptop is born everyday and there’s battle amongst the top brands to come out with a killer machine and outsmart the others in the segment…

We, at Computer Spot, would recommend three laptops which we feel are leaders in its segment.

With the innovative touchpad, the user can launch applications, access documents, excel sheet and perform file search functions at a touch of a button. This laptop has many top-of-the-line features that you won’t possibly find in other machines.

For instance; the touchpad lights up with attractive chrome blue light when activated. It has a HDMI AV interface and overall good looks to attract you towards it seamlessly!

For gamers: NYC m17x

NYC Alienware unveiled an extremely powerful gaming notebook with dual NVIDIA 8800M graphics cards and Intel Core 2 Extreme processor. The 17-inch m17x is a typical Alienware machine possessing high-end specifications and “out of this world design.”

Features:

Dual 512MB NVidia GeForce Go 8800M GTX graphics in SLI

4GB RAM

640GB hard drive

17″ WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD with Clearview Technology

2.8Ghz Core 2 Duo Processor X7900

1GB Intel Turbo Memory

TV Tuner

Blu-ray, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless

Vista Ultimate

Why should you select this?

The m17x pictured here, is a big-daddy of everyone in its segment or perhaps in other segments too! It’s a powerful desktop replacement with the extreme specifications.

Although there’s are many gaming notebooks available today, this one is pretty different from the rest as it has fascinating specs like 1GB Intel Turbo Memory, 640GB hard drive and dual 512MB NVidia GeForce Go 8800M GTX graphics, which are hard to find on any other machine!

However, apart from its breath taking functionalities it’s hefty price tag of $5628 could be quite an ask. But, for gamers, money doesn’t not matter and this one has the goods to make it count.

You will have to shell out BIG BUCKS or even probably need to sell your house/car/body for it! But all in all, it’s all worth it!

For home users and students:

The latest Dell Vostro A860 laptop is an affordable 15.6-inch laptop equipped for handling everyday tasks, and is designed for the home users and students, who are looking for a cost effective option to do all the common computing operations.

Features:

HD widescreen LCD with anti-glare coating

Intel Core 2 Duo processor

1GB RAM

Up to 160GB hard drives

DVD burner

Bluetooth

WiFi

Choice of operating system.

Why should you select this?

It offers the same practical technology for mobile business computing, but for small business customers and mainly the students and home-users, who value mobility and compact size at an affordable price offering!

Obviously Dell has its monopoly as far as the brand is concerned, but this machine is superior to the rest in its segment on account of its low-cost, without sacrificing functionality and performance!

You recommend something better?

If you have recommendations of other laptops that can top segments, let us know. We will carry out tests and let you know what we feel about them.

This is the question that majority of the home computer users have not yet asked themselves. How to backup my PC & what kinds of data do I want to backup?

In business environment, there are unlimited options, which the Computer professionals have the access to backup up commercial data.

The home users should not have the same options, as they are totally unnecessary because of the quantity of data that the home users can back up.

While you backup the computer there are lots of different ways to perform it and lots of files & folders can be backed up.

We are going to focus on data files that are formats word, excel, jpegs, mp3’s, and nothing else, like applications folder, program files folder and so on.

For home user you don’t have to backup the whole thing on your hard drive. That will take too much of your time and will get very expensive. I recommend saving all the data files to the 1 spot, if you are Microsoft Windows user; most of the software packages will have the default data to My Documents folder. If you are Mac user then where it will default no one knows! It generally defaults to desktop.

Make the folder and name it meaningful. Name something that you will keep in mind, like the “Computer Backup” or else “My Backup Files”! After that make sure that you save all your significant files to that particular folder. You can default all your files saved in that file so you don’t require worrying regarding clicking and dragging to your folder.

One more computer backup suggestion would be to buy external hard drive i.e. firewire or the USB cable and then plug in your computer. You have to treat external hard drive like an USB Key solution.

Only difference is that there will be more space available on its external hard drive than USB Key. You can as well purchase internal hard drive and install it or if you are purchasing new computer, then you can put one for little amount of money.

This needs to be treated like the original hard drive, and it will have some letter allotted to it (i.e. C, D) or it will get mounted to the desktop.
