What is Steam?


Something called Steam hit the news recently, when it was released on the Apple Mac platform. Even more recently, Steam has been well talked about in online communities because of the incredible sales that it had. Just what is Steam and why has it been big news?

Steam is a software deployment platform with many functions. It is a gaming community that allows users that own the same games as their friends to join up in multi-player games online, or to play games against whoever else is online at the time, looking to play the same game as you.

Steam offers the chance to buy games easily via it’s digital store. Users can legally buy and download games to play on their PC, saving on a trip to the store, often massive queues and waiting times for the biggest name releases, or saving on shipping costs for games delivered to your home.
