What is a Proxy?


When it comes to the use of the internet, there are many risks. There are viruses and spyware, and countless other varieties of malware.

But there are also chances that the websites that you visit may track your visit, your details, and perhaps use them in ways that you wouldn’t like them to. What information may be collected, and how do you protect yourself?

When you visit a web page there are a number of things that it can tell about you. There will be your I.P. address first and foremost, which will tell the site where you are, geographically. This can be used to serve up ads that are specific to your area.

They can also see which web page you were visiting before you reached them, and may be able to see what search terms you recently used, or even access your cookies using special snooping programs on the server.
