Back in the late 1970’s, two enterprising young computer programmers named Paul Allen and Bill Gates developed an adaptation for the BASIC computer language that would help run newly created personal computer just coming on the technology market.

As with any technology, their original creation changed and grew.

The two friends decided they had the product and the capability to become successful, so they formed a company now known as Microsoft.

Over the years, Microsoft has grown to a giant in the computer industry with successes never before seen by a “from scratch” endeavor.

Microsoft was responsible for the development of not only several computer languages like COBOL and PASCAL, but also for the development of the earliest operating system MS-DOS.

In partnership with IBM, who was just introducing the personal computer to the individual consumer, all of the IBM computers used MS-DOS on their systems. The year was 1981.

Windows 3.1 was the first product to fully utilize graphical user interface for ease of controlling what the computer would do.

Windows also now allowed the user to multitask, meaning the user could now run multiple applications at once without having to close out of each program before running another.

2001 – saw the release of Windows XP which is the version most users have to date. The XP stands for experienced and combined the two major Windows operating systems into one. It is available in both a home as well as a professional edition.

Windows XP is designed more for users who may not be familiar with all of Windows features and has several new abilities to make the Windows experience easier for those users.

Windows XP includes various new features not found in previous versions of Microsoft Windows. Below is a listing of some of these new features.

New interface – a completely new look and ability to change the look.

Updates – new feature that automatically obtains updates from the Internet.

Internet Explorer 6 – Includes internet explorer 6 and new IM.

Multilingual support – added support for different languages.

In addition to the above features, Windows XP does increase reliability when compared to previous versions of Microsoft Windows.

Finally, the most recent upgrade of Windows was just released in 2007. Called Windows Vista, this new version is intended as an upgrade to XP and 2000 users.

While it does have many new features, this version is intended to give computer users an overall better experience with a dramatic new look.

Added features over previous Windows versions include:

Windows Aero, a completely new GUI and unlike any previous version of Windows.

Basic file backup and restore.

Improved DVD support with the ability to easily create custom DVD movies.

Easy transfer, a feature that allows you to easily transfer files from an older computer to the new computer.

File encryption.

Instant search available through all Explorer windows.

Support for DirectX 10.

Self-healing, the ability to automatically detect and correct problems that may be encountered on the computer.

Shadow copy, a feature that allows you to recover deleted files.

Improved photo gallery and control of photographs.

Windows Sidebar and gadgets that allows you to add an almost endless list of different gadgets.

More parental control.

Improved Windows Calendar, with the ability to set tasks and appointments.

And much more.

Some people who are Windows enthusiasts hail this new product as a step into a new technological era. Windows Vista is flashy, pretty, and impressive, but it comes with its own unique faults as well.

Reviewers report that there are many device drivers lacking in the software and that its size requires a large amount of memory which can cause your computer to run slower and less efficiently.

All versions of Windows do come with the original MS-DOS operating system included in the background for those “old-schoolers” who will want to enter their own computer commands.

All versions also come with a basic word processing program and Internet Explorer for surfing the net.
You will find standard games such as solitaire in Windows as well.

As you know, windows is now developing new operating system, windows 7. You can try the beta version. I haven’t tried it yet. I will wait until the final version released.

This windows vista tweaks can help you with Windows Vista and how it operates on your computer. If you want to get the most out of Windows Vista, these tweaks can give you the speed and ability to do so.

I recently bought a new computer. Of course it came with Windows Vista and I’m a Windows XP baby. My initial feelings about Windows Vista were something I can’t talk about in a review.

Needless to say I didn’t like it. Then I found these tweaks that have helped me tremendously. One of the first things I found on the tweaks was how to make the search engine faster in my start menu.

I want results quick and was able to get that on my other computer. With the tweaks I was given advice on how to make this search much faster. That was a big plus and kept me looking for more help.

It also walked me though how to speed up my computer with Aero. I didn’t even know that was on here. After reading about it I decided to give it a try.

It was easy to understand and it walked me right through what I needed to do. Before I knew it, my computer was faster than my old one. I was beginning to see how Windows Vista might start to work for me.

There are several other tweaks including how to increase your SATA disk drive performance and what Smart Display is and how to use it.

With a wireless link and Smart Display I can get into my Windows XP desktop as long as I’m within range. It also works with handwriting software.

I also know how to turn off the access controls, run as administrator, how to add copy as path, keyboard short cut secrets I didn’t know and some great advice on how to free up some needed space on my computer.

If I hadn’t found this I’m sure I would be beyond frustration. After this advice and these tweaks I’m much happier with Windows Vista and have no more desire to take a hammer to my new computer.

If you’re having problems getting adjusted to Windows Vista check this out. It just might save you some time and stress.

For one of you who are present here are having problem in wireless network installation of your Operating System called Vista system, and then you do not have to care at all about that problem, as here is the systematic direction for you to solve your problem.

Step 1

Primarily you require confirming that your PC or notebook computer like laptop possesses the unwired component either connected to the PC or any component that is inbuilt.

Numerous new PCs and the notebook computers are available with the inbuilt hardware components in the market.

On my notebook PC I have an un-wired tools internally connected, while my PC had not, so I had to purchase an unwired router to attach it to an unwired system.

If you are linking to an un-wired net with your un-wired router, take care that you set up the drivers required for router first.

Step 2

As soon as you have a router as well as the software required for router is downloaded you require arranging your gateway device or the router to proper connections.

To carry out this you must go behind your instruction booklet as the routers can sometimes diverge. For the majority of routers if you enter the IP address like 192.168.1.1 in the browser it will offer the router installation window.

You will be asked for the user name as well as the code for user, these can be written in your instruction booklet.

As soon as you have installed the download window you can press the left-click over the unwired tag and install the system’s SSID that is the networks name i.e. Home Network, James Network, to make it easier from here on in we will use the name WLANHome.

Then assign the code word. While you are choosing the protection category, there are two dissimilar kinds of security the WEP & the WPA.

If you have alternative, choose the WPA because it is latest as well as more protected type of defending for you un-wired network.

Click un-wired network image in announcement region in a task bar. You will be accessible by attaching to the system sheet. Choose Wireless LAN Home net as well as left-click your mice over connect.

Step 3

If you are trying to access the network, which is unprotected you will find the caution notice over the window.

If you are trying to access the local net, like hotel-based or the common region, which provides free un-wired network, you are linking to Internet at your personal responsibility, as this is well thought-out as risky.

The majority of local networks are similar to this or else clients would not be capable of connecting to it. If you are definite that you would like to attach to the system, click “attach anyhow”.

In my opinion, now Windows Vista it is looking better. Many properties can hold back others. In this editorial, you will view some instructions to get Windows Vista to take action in a method you desire it.

Restore Virtual Folders in the Start Menu in Windows Vista

Windows Vista will store all of your documents so they are simple to appear. In recent looks of Windows Vista, there would be practical databases in the Start Menu to search your documents simpler.

In this beta, the Microsoft has determined to avoid to the traditional system of pointing to the particular directory.

In this article, we will offer you how to acquire your Start Menu bar pointing back to virtual databases.

First : right-click over start menu and click on properties.

Second : In taskbar and start menu properties, select customize tab.

Select the kind of file you want and select link to this records. Only repeat procedures for other types of files.

Change the Areo Look in Windows Vista

The Windows Vista is everything about looking beautiful. Beautiful comes at a price. While you have all of results on in the Windows Vista many assets are taken up by client interface. In this article, we will enable you how to reduce the burden from Windows Vista.

First : click on start menu & choose the control panel.

Second : click on the appearance and personalization. In personalization wizard, select “customize colors and change your color scheme”.

Third : in the classic appearance properties you will find personalization, select it as well as choose color scheme and change dialog box from default to express.

Fourth : Select OK and store the transformation you have made.

Your computer will be poorly taxed by they client interface. Vista in fact looks memory ambitious so your computer will require any assistance it can get.

The Windows XP will scuttle well with 128 MB video card and one GB of system RAM. Ironically, that should be considered the least amount to set up Windows Vista operating system on your computer.

Some people claim that you even can improve on if you do not prefer the current version of Windows Vista?’ OK, using Windows Vista downloaded in various new PCs, we do not have the alternative of replacing the version of windows XP.

My friend purchased a different laptop as well as the first thing he required to do was to set up XP. Therefore, I tried it, but Vista was a lot smart to allow XP’s installation program wizard.

I let my friend know that proper method to set up XP would be to re-map the hard disk drive plus do a clear set up of XP.

You determined that it would be top to put down alone and to manage it, as Vista was integrated in the cost of laptop. Therefore, I have setup the connection in my friend’s PC, to try to get it more accessible for him.

If you are having problem to deal with working of Vista’s new edition or just desire to accelerate your PC, try these easy settings to make Vista’s appearance more similar to XP.

To make Windows Vista’s appearance more similar to Windows XP:

Right-click on open space of screen

Select ‘Personalize’

Click on the ‘Themes’

Choose ‘Windows Standard’ or else ‘Windows Classic’

Click OK tab.

Stop for the transformations to take result. In this way you can observe, this transformations on taskbar & Start Menu signs.

Windows Vista is an amazing operating system but the look and feel is very different from the other versions of the windows operating system.

People at times find it a little difficult get used to the new version of windows xp. People prefer old look and feel of windows as they are used to it.

The Good Things About Microsoft Vista Operating System

The most important things citizens will tell you on the subject of Windows Vista is the graphical appearance is a largely improved than previous versions.

There are also are a numerous added features, such as the Windows sidebar and the “gadgets” that can be additional to the desktop for trouble-free user-friendliness.

A supplementary claim is that Windows Vista is supplementary protected than preceding versions, the Windows 98, the Windows 2000, and the Windows XP. Other than a not many additional bells and whistles that is stiff to use/find that is about it.

The Bad

Where do we initiate from there is a lot t speak? The Windows Vista has fallen undersized in more than a few areas. I recognize some of you have almost certainly seen the commercial where a lone person is a PC and another man is an Apple (Mac) computer.

The Mac is joking with the PC because the PC can barely do whatever thing not including the extra person a Windows security feature asking “are you certain?”

The Security part is first-class when it does not get on your nerves you. The User Account Control will definitely annoy you.

The difficulty is if you turn it off, you are not receiving the warnings you would have required to get. There are also the features that are the similar as XP, but named something else. This is puzzling.

Perhaps most significant is the matter of incompatibility. A lot of printers, the scanners, the cameras, and additional peripherals do not work with Vista and if your PC is older than a year or two, you almost certainly do not have the hardware competent of organization it.

You would have to spend a couple hundred dollars to promote hardware and then shell out a couple hundred additional for windows Vista.

Every computers have an operating system. What is an operating system ? An operating system – commonly referred to as an OS – is a set of computer programs that manage the hardware and software resources of a computer.

The OS processes electronic devices with a rational response to commands that are approved by the system.

At the foundation of all system software, an operating system performs basic tasks like controlling and allocating memory, prioritizing system requests, controlling input and output devices, facilitating the network, and managing files.

The OS can also provide a graphical user interface for higher functions. Essentially, the OS forms a platform for other system software as well as application software.

The operating system is the most important program that runs on a computer. Without an operating system, your computer would not work. It would not be able to process requests for print, simple calculations, or any other function. It is really the brain that runs the equipment.

For larger system, the OS has great responsibilities than with a PC. In larger systems, the operating system is kind of like a traffic cop.

It makes sure that different users and programs running at the same time on different systems don’t interfere with each other. It also acts as a security guard making sure that unauthorized users are not able to access the system.

There are four classifications of a computer operating system. They are:

Multi-User: Allows two or more users to run programs at the same time. Some operating systems permit hundreds or even thousands of concurrent users

Multi-Processing: Supports running a program or more than one CPU

Multi-Tasking: Allows more than one program to run concurrently

Multi-Threading: Allows different parts of a single program to run concurrently

Real Time: Responds to input instantly. General-purpose operating systems, such as DOS and UNIX, are not real-time.

Operating systems provide a software platform on top of which other programs, called application programs, can run. The application programs must be written to run on top of a particular operating system.

Your choice of operating system, therefore, determines to a great extent the applications you can run. For PCs, the most popular operating systems are DOS, OS/2, and Windows, but others are available, such as Linux.

In any device that has an operating system, there’s usually a way to make changes to how the device works.

This is far from a happy accident; one of the reasons operating systems are made out of portable code rather than permanent physical circuits is so that they can be changed or modified without having to scrap the whole device.
